The U.S. Treasury announced Thursday that more than 60 million American children under 18 have been automatically enrolled in Trump Accounts, also known as 530A accounts, which officially launched on July 4 and are available to any U.S. child under 18 with a Social Security number. Children born between 2025 and 2028 may claim a one-time $1,000 government pilot contribution, with approximately 14.4 million children projected to be eligible. However, an estimated $2.88 billion in federal seed funding is at risk of going unclaimed because automatic enrollment alone does not trigger the deposit; families must actively claim accounts through the app to receive the money. Tech CEO Michael Dell and his wife, Susan, have committed $6.25 billion to provide an additional $250 for children born between 2016 and 2024 living in ZIP codes where median income is $150,000 or less.
