Investors now think the odds are extremely unlikely that the Federal Reserve raises interest rates again in October, following a weaker-than-expected September employment report. CME’s FedWatch tool shows only a 17% chance of a quarter-point rate increase, down from 36% a week ago. The U.S. economy added only 29,000 jobs in September, below estimates for a gain of more than 80,000. Traders are still forecasting a rate hike in December, with odds above 75% on FedWatch and 65% on Kalshi. The Fed is set to announce its next rate decision on October 28.
