Tokenized stocks hosted on Coinbase’s Base network have seen their market cap surge from $5 million to $20.7 million in just days, a fourfold increase. Coinbase launched its B20 token standard on August 24, enabling fractional purchases of shares in major companies like Nvidia, Apple, Meta, and Alphabet, tradable around the clock on the blockchain. On day one, $4.55 million in tokens were minted, with decentralized exchange volume reaching $22.6 million within 24 hours. These tokens are fully backed by real shares held in custody through Alpaca, a structure supervised by Abu Dhabi’s financial regulator. The broader tokenized equities market stands at approximately $2.49 billion, with Coinbase accounting for less than 1% of that total.
