Morgan Stanley plans to launch tokenized stocks on its alternative trading platform (ATS) in the first quarter of 2027, slightly behind its initial target of the second half of 2026. Amy Oldenburg, head of digital assets strategy at the bank, attributed the delay to the lack of available products and insufficient client demand, as infrastructure is still under construction. The bank is closely monitoring the launch of DTCC’s tokenization service, expected at the end of October, and the implementation of the GENIUS Act in January 2027, which should clarify the regulatory framework for stablecoins in the United States. Morgan Stanley estimates that the tokenization market for real-world assets (RWA) could reach between $3 trillion and $10 trillion by 2030. The bank has also created a Digital Asset Lab focused on stablecoins, DeFi, and tokenization, and launched Ethereum and Solana ETPs on NYSE Arca this summer.
