Canada is the largest foreign supplier of toilet paper to the United States, with $328 million in imports in 2024, and American factories rely on Canadian northern bleached softwood kraft pulp, importing approximately 2 million tons per year. Tariff costs are being fully passed through to consumer prices, and Procter & Gamble, maker of Charmin, said tariffs are creating earnings headwinds and plans to raise prices on part of its lineup. Only 30% of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of inflation, and 31% of voters name inflation and prices as their top concern ahead of the midterm elections.
