Baby boomers, numbering about 68 million, owned $97.4 trillion alone, accounting for roughly 52% of all U.S. household net worth. This concentration is partly explained by rising equity markets, with boomers holding 54% of all U.S. stocks, as markets were largely driven by AI. However, gains have been uneven: the top 10% of households controlled 71% of the generation’s wealth, while nearly one-third of Americans 55 and over had no retirement savings.
