Thai police arrested a 37-year-old Chinese national, Wu Chaoshuai, in Bangkok on October 16, 2026, for allegedly running a transnational criminal network that moved more than 500 million yuan (approximately $70-75 million) through over 133 bank accounts. He was apprehended in the Saphan Sung district after evading capture for more than three years using forged documents and frequent relocations. The network is accused of loan-sharking, money laundering, and recruiting mule account holders, while also providing cryptocurrency and foreign currency exchange services for criminal groups. Thai authorities plan to deport Wu to China, where an outstanding warrant had already been issued for his arrest.
