Tether’s own AI study shows when buying a laptop costs more than cloud tokens

Share

Tether announced on October 20 that it had joined Tenstorrent’s Series E funding round, which values the company at $6.2 billion after investment, without disclosing its own contribution. According to QVAC’s October 12 study, buying a $2,399 laptop and allocating its cost over four years creates a monthly charge of about $50, while the dense Qwen3.8-27B model can process roughly 55 million tokens per month. At Alibaba Cloud’s Singapore rates, the estimated break-even point is 77 million tokens per month, while processing 55 million tokens would cost $35.75. Existing device owners, intensive users and faster models such as Qwen3.6 35B may see different outcomes, but these scenarios guarantee neither lower spending nor an integration between Tenstorrent and QVAC.
