Tether, the issuer of the world’s largest stablecoin, is developing Hypersearch, a decentralized peer-to-peer search engine built on distributed hash table (DHT) architecture. CEO Paolo Ardoino officially announced the project on April 7, 2026, and a working P2P Wikipedia search demo was presented on May 14. The system relies on the Kademlia DHT protocol and Tether’s HyperDHT infrastructure, enabling nodes to store and retrieve data without a central server. Hypersearch is part of a broader strategy that includes Keet, an encrypted messaging application, and PearPass, a password manager, all built on peer-to-peer architecture. The project remains in early-stage development with no public beta or published whitepaper at this time.
