Tencent claims its Hunyuan foundation model outperforms rivals in internal tests. The Chinese tech giant is developing the Hunyuan series, with the Hy3 (Hunyuan 3.0) model featuring 295 billion parameters and integration into WeChat and AI assistant Yuanbao. Tencent is simultaneously an investor in Moonshot AI, a startup founded in 2023 that launched the Kimi K3 model with 2.8 trillion parameters and support for 1 million active tokens. Moonshot AI is raising 2 billion dollars at a valuation of approximately 30 billion dollars with plans for a Hong Kong stock listing. As of late August 2026, no explicit outperformance claims between Tencent and Moonshot have appeared in the media.
