Global markets were mixed this morning: Asia advanced except for China’s CSI 300, which fell 1.32%, while Europe declined as Brent crude surged between $116 and $117 per barrel. S&P 500 and Nasdaq futures were up a marginal 0.07% after Friday’s 0.7% gain, as Anthropic’s IPO filing buoyed technology stocks. Meta was the exception, declining nearly 2% after announcing $95 billion in new dilutive shares to fund its AI buildout. Bitcoin fell to $79,585, while 42% of traders were bearish. With 30% of S&P 500 companies having reported, 78% beat earnings-per-share expectations, but those results failed to dispel fears of an AI-driven bust.
