T-Mobile’s engineers detected the intrusion early, identified the entry point through a third-party wireline provider, and cut the connection before sensitive data was exfiltrated. Chief Security Officer Jeff Simon stated that no customer data, including calls, texts, or voicemails, was accessed during the incident. Salt Typhoon’s campaign targeted communications of high-value individuals across multiple US telecommunications carriers.
