The Swiss National Bank has appointed Martin Brown as Head of Economic Affairs, the division responsible for crafting interest-rate proposals to the Governing Board. Martin Brown, 55, will officially take over on October 1, 2026, succeeding Carlos Lenz, who has held the position since 2015. Brown currently directs the SNB Foundation’s Study Center Gerzensee, the central bank’s in-house think tank, after previously working at the SNB from 2004 to 2011. He holds a doctorate from the University of Zurich and serves as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Gallen. The April 24 announcement generated no significant market reaction, with the Swiss franc and government bond yields remaining steady.
