Stripe has made Open USD (OUSD) its default stablecoin for businesses using stablecoin payments on its platform. OUSD comes from Open Standard, a consortium of over 200 companies including Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Coinbase, which intends to share reserve earnings rather than capture them. The token is issued by Bridge, a Stripe subsidiary, with reserves held by BlackRock, Lead Bank and BNY. The official launch took place on September 30, 2026, with over $400 million in liquidity on Tempo alone at launch. The platform runs natively on Base, Ethereum, Solana and Tempo, with trading available on Coinbase, Kraken and Uniswap.
