Payments giant MoneyGram has announced the launch of a stablecoin-based virtual Visa debit card in Latin America, built on the Stellar (XLM) blockchain network. The pilot launched in Colombia in partnership with fintech platform Rain and crypto service Crossmint, allowing users to convert digital dollars directly into everyday purchases. Customers hold their balance in USDC while the system automatically converts the cryptocurrency into pesos at checkout through Visa’s global network. The company confirmed the card will soon support its own stablecoin MGUSD, issued on Stellar earlier this year. MoneyGram plans to issue physical cards by the end of 2026 and expand the service to other countries across the region.
