Starknet voted by 93.5% in favor of pursuing research into becoming an independent, quantum-resistant layer 1 blockchain. The non-binding community poll involved more than 3,200 wallets and recorded the highest turnout in any Starknet poll to date. StarkWare and the Starknet Foundation will lead the work, with a draft white paper expected to be released for public review in November. The vote does not authorize Starknet’s migration from Ethereum’s layer 2 to layer 1; instead, it begins a research phase that could lead to a future governance decision. CEO Eli Ben-Sasson has set a target of making Starknet quantum-safe by 2027, while Falcon-based post-quantum accounts are already live on the mainnet.
