Standard Chartered Singapore enters institutional crypto custody market – What’s next?

Standard Chartered Bank Singapore announced on October 8th its plan to offer crypto custody services to institutional clients and accredited investor corporate clients. The bank will securely hold select cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, and tokenized real-world assets in compliance with Singapore’s regulatory framework. Standard Chartered is expanding its global digital asset custody network, which is already operational in the UAE, Luxembourg, and Hong Kong. Executives highlighted Singapore’s role as a financial innovation hub with growing demand for trusted digital asset solutions. The bank is also expanding its stablecoin strategy by becoming an authorized distributor of HKDAP, a Hong Kong dollar-backed stablecoin issued by Anchorpoint Financial.
