Standard Chartered has opened spot trading of Bitcoin and Ethereum to institutional investors in the United Arab Emirates. The British bank, the first G-SIB to offer this service in the UAE, operates from the Dubai International Financial Centre under DFSA supervision. The offering covers BTC/USD and ETH/USD pairs with actual delivery of assets, settlement being separate from execution. Eligible institutional clients can place orders through the bank’s electronic platforms and choose their own custodian, including the digital asset custody service launched by Standard Chartered in September 2024. This expansion follows the service launched in the United Kingdom in July 2025 and confirms the growing integration of cryptocurrencies into traditional finance infrastructure.
