Multinational bank Standard Chartered announced Thursday that it had launched bitcoin spot trading for institutional clients in the United Arab Emirates, the first service of its kind in the country. The bank had already rolled out digital asset custody services in the UAE in 2024 before debuting spot cryptocurrency trading in other countries. In 2025, Standard Chartered also set up a bitcoin trading desk in London and a blockchain unit called Libeara to help institutions tokenize traditional assets. The bank further estimated that bitcoin’s price could exceed $100,000 by year-end, with a potential overshoot toward the all-time high of $126,000.
