Stacks reported that its Bitcoin Staking feature attracted around 735 BTC across its first two bonding periods on mainnet. The first bonding period, called the Genesis Bond and launched on September 10, 2026, contributed 230 BTC, while the second one gathered approximately 505 BTC out of a roughly 500 BTC capacity. Of those 505 BTC, around 483 were staked via stBTC, a liquid staking token from Stacking DAO, allowing the coins to remain in circulation as collateral across various DeFi applications while continuing to earn yield. The projected yield stands at around 3% APY, paid weekly in BTC. Additionally, staking of the native STX token rose by over 25% following the PoX-5 hard fork on July 30, 2026, climbing from 392 million to 493 million staked tokens.
