According to a study by Coinbase and The Block Research, more than $400 million in stablecoins changed hands on average every hour in the third quarter of 2026, while 73% of the transfers analyzed occurred outside US banking hours. Adjusted quarterly volume rose from $216 billion in the first quarter of 2023 to $891 billion in the third quarter of 2026, representing an annual compound growth rate of nearly 50%. Stablecoins offer substantially lower fees, transfers that often arrive in under an hour and continuous availability, with USDT and USDC accounting for most of a market spanning 293 million addresses.
