Share

The OCC published its final regulations implementing the GENIUS Act on October 21, with an effective date of January 18, 2027. The rules impose federal requirements on payment stablecoin issuers under the agency’s jurisdiction, covering reserves, redemptions, custody, audits, risk management, applications and supervisory obligations. Bank Secrecy Act, anti-money-laundering and sanctions requirements will be addressed through separate rulemaking with the Treasury, meaning substantial compliance work remains.
