Stability AI, under new leadership from Sean Parker and Prem Akkaraju since June 2024, closed a 76 million dollar Series B round in August 2026, bringing total funding to 232 million dollars. Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony Music Group and Electronic Arts all took equity stakes, making it the first AI company to receive direct investment from all three major labels in a single round. It launched Stable Audio 3.0 in May 2026, a music generation model trained only on licensed data, capable of producing structured music up to 6 minutes 20 seconds long. Distribution runs through plugins for digital audio workstations and a proprietary platform. By converting previous licensing partnerships into equity stakes, Stability AI aims to reduce legal risks associated with generative music AI, but will need to manage competing interests from three rival major labels on its cap table.
