S&P Global to Acquire OpenZeppelin in Onchain Risk Push

S&P Global has agreed to acquire OpenZeppelin, a provider of smart contract audits and open-source developer libraries for blockchain. The deal aims to strengthen S&P’s risk assessment capabilities on-chain, particularly for stablecoins, tokenized funds and DeFi protocols. Founded in 2015, OpenZeppelin has conducted over 900 security engagements and its Contracts libraries underpin more than $37 trillion in value transferred. The company will retain its name and operate as a separate unit under CEO Demian Brener, who will continue reporting to Yann Le Pallec, president of S&P Global Ratings. Financial terms were not disclosed and the transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions.
