South Korean authorities have approved measures to block access to 27 websites operated by unregistered crypto exchanges, including KuCoin, MEXC, Phemex, Bitrue, CoinW, BTCC, BitMart, BingX and DigiFinex. The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) decision follows reviews by the Korea Media and Communications Standards Commission on October 6 and 7. These website blocks supplement existing restrictions on mobile apps, which had already led to the removal of 14 apps from Apple’s App Store and 17 from Google Play in April 2025. The FIU acknowledged that these measures could complicate asset withdrawals for existing users and plans to provide guidance through the Digital Asset eXchange Alliance (DAXA). South Korean crypto exchange profits fell 78% in the first half of the year amid a trading slump.
