Sophon, a zkSync-based entertainment-focused Layer 2 network, has set November 25, 2026 as the deadline for users to withdraw their assets before the mainnet shutdown scheduled for November 30. The project, which raised between $60 million and $70 million, cited annual operational costs of approximately $3.4 million as the reason for its closure. Users must withdraw assets from Sophon farms, claim staking rewards, and claim Guardian rewards before the cutoff or risk permanently losing access to their funds. The shutdown is projected to save $3 million annually. The team is now pivoting to consumer finance and AI applications on Base, Coinbase’s Layer 2 network, with a first product called Pyre.
