Solana reduced its slot time to 350 milliseconds, marking the first reduction of this parameter since the network’s genesis. The network ultimately aims for a 200-millisecond slot time, with three additional 50-millisecond reductions planned. Average slot times on Solana currently stand at around 360 milliseconds, down from the original 400 milliseconds. These reductions are designed to improve latency and accelerate confirmations on the blockchain. The four stages will be deployed on mainnet via the validator client Agave v4.2, developed by Anza, although the schedule remains tentative.
