SoftBank’s Masayoshi Son holds 67% of US stock portfolio in Intel, didn’t buy a single share last quarter

SoftBank’s 13F filing, submitted to the SEC on August 14, reveals the Japanese conglomerate holds 86,956,522 shares of Intel worth approximately $12.14 billion, representing 67% of its $18 billion US equity portfolio. This massive Intel position is nearly seven times larger than SoftBank’s second-biggest American holding, Symbotic at $1.79 billion. SoftBank didn’t add a single share during the second quarter of 2026, with the position remaining unchanged since March 31. The initial $2 billion investment in Intel was finalized during the third quarter of 2025, at a time when the chipmaker was navigating a complicated turnaround amid competition from AMD and Nvidia.
