South Korea’s semiconductor giants SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics saw their shares surge by more than 25% and 20% respectively on Friday on the Seoul Stock Exchange, tracking a sharp rally in U.S. technology stocks. Amazon and Microsoft’s better-than-expected quarterly results in cloud computing revived optimism around artificial intelligence investments. This rally marks a significant rebound from this week’s sell-off driven by concerns over lofty AI valuations and intensifying competition from Chinese memory chipmakers. Japanese semiconductor stocks also rallied sharply, with Advantest posting gains of up to 18%.
