SK Hynix denies confirmed plans for US memory chip talks with Intel

SK Hynix, the South Korean memory chip giant, has denied any confirmed plans for negotiations with Intel regarding memory chip production in the United States. The company stated it has neither pursued nor made any decisions regarding Intel’s under-construction semiconductor facility in Ohio. However, exploratory discussions between the two companies appear to be ongoing, potentially involving collaborations or leasing arrangements. SK Hynix previously acquired Intel’s NAND flash memory business for 9 billion dollars and is constructing a 4 billion dollar advanced packaging facility in Indiana, targeting production in the second half of 2029. Neither SK Hynix nor Samsung currently fabricates memory chips on US soil.
