Saudi Arabia has found a new solution to export its oil to Asia via the Mediterranean through Egypt’s Sidi Kerir port, located about 20 miles west of Alexandria. This route, longer and more expensive than the usual Red Sea passage, has seen increased activity recently. The kingdom has been forced to modify its export channels due to regional conflicts, after already having to abandon the Strait of Hormuz in favor of the Red Sea because of the war in Iran.
