Tesla and Nvidia are jointly investing 3.7 trillion won, or approximately $2.8 billion, in Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ chip substrate business. Nvidia is providing 2.6 trillion won for AI accelerators and data-center networking switches, while Tesla is committing 1.1 trillion won for its autonomous vehicles and Optimus humanoid robots. The investment will primarily fund FC-BGA substrate production lines at the company’s Sejong and Busan facilities, which are expected to be completed by the end of 2027 before mass production begins in the second half of 2028. Tesla will receive its first shipments in 2029 under a supply contract running through 2033, while the agreement with Nvidia forms part of a multiyear partnership. These commitments add to Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ previously announced 4.27 trillion won expansion program and secure long-term customers for its new capacity.
