Sam Bankman-Fried Asks Supreme Court to Overturn FTX Fraud Conviction

Sam Bankman-Fried has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn his fraud conviction that resulted in a 25-year prison sentence. His lawyers argue the trial court should have allowed him to prove that no FTX customer lost money, as assets were always sufficient to repay them in full with interest. The Justice Department maintains he orchestrated a scheme to misappropriate billions in customer funds regardless of eventual repayment. The Supreme Court has given no indication it will take the case, which it does in roughly 1% of filings. SBF has also applied to President Trump for a pardon, a request the Senate unanimously opposed in July.
