Sam Altman says OpenAI’s IPO window has been pushed to 2027—but markets aren’t the culprit

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, announced that the company will not be ready for an IPO until 2027, pushing back the expected timeline from 2026. He attributed this delay to AI safety concerns rather than market conditions. These concerns were amplified by the public resignation of Jacob Coxon, a former researcher at OpenAI and Anthropic, who warned about the rapid and irresponsible development of AI. Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, also voiced concerns, and Altman suggested that major industry players might convene to discuss these safety issues. Over 180 billion dollars have been invested in OpenAI to date.
