Sabi, a Palo Alto-based startup, raised $50 million to build a wearable brain-computer interface that converts thoughts into commands. The device, a beanie equipped with miniature EEG sensors (between 70,000 and 100,000), reads brain activity without surgical implantation with a decoding speed of approximately 30 words per minute. Investors include Khosla Ventures, Accel, Initialized Capital, DST Global, as well as Kevin Weil, former chief product officer at OpenAI. The startup is also developing an AI model called the “Brain Foundation Model” based on approximately 100,000 hours of neural data. Sabi aims to commercialize the product by the end of 2026, positioning itself in direct competition with Neuralink.
