Robinhood crushes Q2 earnings expectations while crypto revenue takes a hit

Robinhood reported second quarter earnings that beat consensus expectations with diluted EPS of $0.62 and total net revenue of $1.31 billion, exceeding estimates that had projected EPS between $0.39 and $0.41 and revenue between $1.22 billion and $1.25 billion. Transaction-based revenue jumped 44% year-over-year to $776 million, fueled by event contracts and prediction markets that generated $156 million, a tenfold increase. Crypto revenue declined 38% to $100 million. Trump Accounts attracted over 7 million sign-ups with $1.5 billion in deposits, while Robinhood launched the public mainnet for Robinhood Chain and completed its acquisition of WonderFi. Total platform assets climbed to $369 billion, up 32% year-over-year.
