Binance.US CEO Steve Gregory announced at the Rare Evo conference that the company would apply for a Designated Contract Market (DCM) license with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in August. This license would enable Binance.US to launch its own prediction market, competing with established platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket. CFTC-licensed DCMs can legally trade futures or option contracts based on various commodities, indices or financial instruments. As of Wednesday, the CFTC had no records showing a pending application from Binance.US. This move comes more than a year after the SEC dismissed its lawsuit against Binance, its US entity and former CEO Changpeng Zhao.
