Ripple (XRP) Lands New South Korea Deal as Meritz Securities Explores Digital Asset Custody

Meritz Securities signed a strategic agreement with Ripple on October 1, 2024 to explore digital asset infrastructure for the South Korean market, focusing on custody and tokenization under existing securities regulations. Ripple also partnered with K Bank in April 2024 to test faster and cheaper cross-border transfers via the XRP network, with a second proof-of-concept phase including account integration and on-chain transfer tests with partners in the UAE and Thailand. Ripple additionally worked with Kyobo Life Insurance on tokenized government bond transactions. XRP dominates the portfolios of South Korean investors in their twenties, holding a 20.7% share compared with a combined 17.5% for Bitcoin and Ethereum. Globally, Ripple partnered with CSD BR in Brazil to use the XRP Ledger for recording tokenized financial assets, and deepened its relationship with Brevan Howard for multi-asset prime brokerage services.
