British neobank Revolut announced it completed, in partnership with Visa, the first secure AI-initiated payment in France. The transaction was carried out in real conditions with merchant Cleverbridge using the Visa Payment Passkey authentication solution. Revolut, valued at 115 billion dollars and holder of a French banking license obtained in August, presents this experiment as a milestone toward AI-driven commerce. According to the 2026 Digital Barometer, 51 percent of the French population uses generative AI tools for shopping. The payment infrastructure relies on Visa’s existing security measures, with the client retaining control over validation.
