Retail earnings and oil: What NYSE insider Jay Woods is watching this week

Share

Retail stocks are taking center stage this week with quarterly earnings from Home Depot, Lowe’s, Target and Walmart, according to Jay Woods, chief market strategist at Freedom Capital Markets. Target, described as the « story of the year, » has seen its shares surge more than 56% in 2026, but analysts expect a pullback of approximately 6%, with resistance forming around $155 per share. Walmart is in a near-term downtrend with a double top at the $135 level, despite bullish analyst outlooks projecting over 20% upside over the next 12 months. Home Depot, down nearly 2% year-to-date, displays an inverted head-and-shoulders pattern and could rise to the $380-$400 range if it clears the $355 level. Woods is also watching oil companies Exxon Mobil and Chevron, both rallying toward 52-week highs amid elevated crude prices.
