The Qubic blockchain suffered a security breach over the weekend of October 17-18, during which a malicious actor drained 1,404 wallets, stealing approximately 2.94 trillion QU tokens worth roughly $1.5 million. The exploited vulnerability stemmed from an insufficiently random system used during wallet seed generation, weakening their security. In response, the network validators triggered a preventive shutdown at tick 85,371,949, preventing the attacker from moving 87.1% of the stolen funds, which remain frozen on the blockchain. Developers have patched the vulnerability in version 4.26.4 and are urging affected users to report on the Qubic explorer page.
