Polymarket launches perpetual futures tied to oil, competing with Kalshi

Polymarket launched its Perps platform on September 3, offering perpetual futures contracts across nine assets: Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, gold, silver, WTI crude oil, the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, and SpaceX shares (ticker SPCX). International traders can access leverage up to 20x. US users are blocked due to a 2022 settlement with the CFTC. This move puts Polymarket in direct competition with Kalshi, which is also preparing a regulated US perpetual WTI crude oil contract. The inclusion of SpaceX shares is particularly notable: as a private company, it gives retail investors synthetic market exposure.
