A massive security breach reportedly drained nearly 1,000 accounts on the crypto-based prediction market Polymarket, resulting in losses of more than $2.6 million. Blockchain analyst Conor Grogan said the attack affected 995 accounts and caused roughly $2.65 million in losses, with the two largest individual losses reaching $341,000 and $307,000. According to blockchain investigator StarPlatinum, the attacker stole about $2.68 million in one hour, then converted the stolen funds into 28.6 million POL tokens, the native token of Polygon. The breach is believed to have involved malicious JavaScript supplied through a compromised third-party service provider embedded in the Polymarket website. Polymarket confirmed the incident and pledged to compensate every affected user; a similar attack in June drained $2.94 million from at least 11 wallets.
