The inaugural Carpathian Eight summit in Bukovel, western Ukraine, brings together leaders from Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary, with the participation of the European Union. Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned that Russia is planning hybrid strikes with drones or rockets against European countries supporting Kyiv. Ukraine has received 3.3 billion euros (approximately $3.8 billion) in EU support to strengthen its defense capabilities. Overnight Russian strikes killed at least three people and injured others in the Zhytomyr and Kharkiv regions.
