A developer used Claude Code to disable 25 software packages on his parents’ TV and created the open-source project cleanyourtv, which now lists tested setups for 107 TV models from 37 brands. The tool uses Android Debug Bridge to disable ad-serving apps without deleting them, allowing complete restoration. Texas sued Sony, Samsung, LG, Hisense and TCL in December 2025 over their ACR software, which can capture screenshots every 500 milliseconds. The project has gathered 10,700 GitHub stars and been forked 1,200 times, while some users reported bricking their TVs.
