Unichain, Uniswap Labs’ Ethereum layer-2 chain, plans to migrate its testnet on October 13 and mainnet on October 29, transferring production sequencing, public node access, monitoring and incident response to Optimism. Ink and Soneium also use Optimism’s managed services, concentrating sequencing, maintenance and incident handling under one organization. In case of sequencer failure, all three chains have forced transaction inclusion via Ethereum with up to 12-hour delays, but Unichain and Ink allow alternative state-root proposals, unlike Soneium whose whitelisted proposers cannot be replaced, freezing withdrawals on failure. L2BEAT rates Unichain and Ink as Stage 1 rollups with permissionless exit paths, while Soneium relies on a highly permissioned validation game without an onchain dispute process. Optimism’s Mission Critical add-on promises 99.95% uptime and a 15-minute initial response time for the most critical incidents.
