Optimism governance approved a proposal to move 546.9 million OP tokens, valued at approximately $49.7 million, from an allocation reserved for future user airdrops to a Strategic Ecosystem Fund administered by the Optimism Foundation. The change removes the dedicated pool for future airdrops and authorizes the foundation to deploy tokens for partnerships, incentives and other initiatives to grow OP Mainnet and OP Enterprise. The proposal passed with 17.974 million OP in favor and 10.931 million opposed, with the decisive vote cast by core development team Test in Prod, which voted 8.486 million OP in favor just 16 minutes and 52 seconds before the deadline. Without this intervention, support would have reached only 46.47%, below the required threshold. The 269.1 million OP already distributed across the first five airdrops remain unaffected.
