NXP Semiconductors is in talks to acquire Ambarella, the edge AI chip specialist for automotive cameras and self-driving systems, for approximately $3.3 billion. The market immediately reacted: Ambarella’s stock surged while NXP’s shares fell more than 3%. Ambarella, with a market valuation of roughly $3.3 billion, signed a partnership with Hanwha in May 2026 that could generate more than $800 million in revenue. NXP reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $3.5 billion, a 19% increase year-over-year, and projects automotive revenue will account for roughly half of its total earnings in 2026.
