Nvidia is negotiating to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in Australian AI cloud company Firmus, which already operates a large infrastructure based on the American chipmaker’s products. Originally founded as a Bitcoin mining operation, Firmus pivoted to building infrastructure for AI workloads through its proprietary HyperCube platform. The company plans to deploy up to 170,000 Nvidia chips across a 360 MW campus in Batam, Indonesia, with work beginning in Q1 2027, projecting 25 to 30 billion dollars in cloud revenue over the first six years. Firmus has raised over 3 billion dollars in equity over the past year, including a 2 billion dollar round in August 2026 that valued the company at over 10.5 billion dollars. The firm postponed its planned roughly 5 billion dollar Australian IPO in October 2026 due to cooling public appetite for AI infrastructure, and is now pursuing private funding of 2 to 3 billion dollars instead.
