Nvidia is negotiating to financially support OpenAI’s 20-year lease of a massive data center campus in Pike County, Ohio. Construction costs are projected to exceed $500 billion, with a total capacity of 10 gigawatts at full build-out. The first phase targets 800 megawatts and is slated for completion by 2028. The campus will include 9.2 gigawatts of on-site natural gas power generation, with SB Energy (a SoftBank subsidiary) as partner and assistance from the US Department of Energy. This deal falls under Nvidia’s commitment announced in September 2025 to invest up to $100 billion in AI infrastructure deployments.
